Rob says: “I first found this squash in the United states, California to be exact, and as far as I know, no-one else in the UK is selling this great old variety. This squash is easier to grow, and sweeter than a butternut squash. It’s more productive too. First introduced in 1894, Honeyboat can be left to crawl over the floor or trained up a frame, or wires. The fruits are super sweet with firm, deep orange flesh, the ideal size to serve 2 people. So, no half-eaten squash lurking in the fridge! It’s also got its own built-in best before date, as the green stripes will disappear as the squash ages, so you’ll always know which to eat first. This variety will keep you in roast squash, soup and any number of dishes all winter long, it’s a real keeper!

This packet of seeds is provided by our sister company Dobies and is Non-Organic.

What we mean by Non-organic seeds:

Seeds produced from plants grown by non-organic growers. No chemical treatments have been used or applied after harvest. Other seed suppliers may sell seed which has been given a coating of chemical to combat fungus or disease, but you can be sure that all our seed is supplied in its natural state. Organic gardeners have shown for many years that good results can be achieved without such treatments.

Why aren't these seeds organic?

Until recently, organically produced seed was very rare and using untreated non-organic seed was the only option for most organic growers. However, since then, the situation has improved. We now have many sources of organic seeds, many of which are available exclusively in the UK through The Organic Gardening Catalogue. However, there are still gaps where no organic seed is available, and our aim is to fill these when we can. Until that time we will continue to offer high quality, non-organic seed of varieties that have been shown to perform well in organic gardens, providing our customers with the widest possible choice.

Live Plants

Organic Garden Catalogue strives to ensure that all its plants are delivered to you in the perfect condition for planting. While the majority of our nursery plants cope well with slight delays in intransit, sadly, the time it takes to deliver to certain locations in the UK means that we can't guarantee this for some of our smaller plug products and tender bedding and vegetable lines, which do not respond well to the extra journey time. So regretfully while we offer the majority of our live plant offering nationwide, we are unable to ship plugs, begging plants and tender vegetable plants to the following areas: HS, IV41-IV49, IV51, IV55-56, KW15-KW17, PA34, PA41-48, PA60-PA78, PA80, PH40-PH44, TR21-TR24, ZE1-ZE3.

Non Standard Deliveries

Unfortunately like many companies in our industry we are currently only able to supply orders to UK based customers, excluding those in Northern Ireland. We are committed to finding a way that we can resume or normal services again as soon as possible. Please accept our apologies for any inconvience caused.

Very Large items

If ordering any large items marked large lorry items  a surcharge of £5 per item will be applied. These items are also not available to areas and postcodes shown under non standard deliveries. We may need to contact you regarding delivery so please provide a contact number with all orders.

Prices include VAT where applicable.

We reserve the right to contact you and advise an additional charge where necessary and are happy to quote for carriage of specific products to more remote areas. Some items may not be available to all areas.

We reserve the right to revise any carriage charges in the event of carrier price increase or other unforeseen circumstances. We will always advise of the carriage charge before payment is taken.

All Organic Garden Catalogue products should reach you in perfect condition, just as they left us. If you are dissatisfied in any way with their condition on arrival, please let us know within 14 days. We are only liable for the cost of the goods as quoted on the website plus the cost of delivery if the goods are faulty.
