No garden should be without them! From statuesque varieties that create strong architecture amongst mound-forming perennials, to low growing gems for the front of borders and rockeries, every variety in this Bumper Allium Collection deserves a place in the garden. Bridging the gap between spring and summer, Alliums are easy to grow and once planted, will virtually take care of themselves, delivering an effortless display year after year.

Bumper Allium Collection includes the following five varieties:

  • Allium 'Purple Sensation' – The architectural blooms of these violet-purple alliums are sure to make a statement in your summer borders. Upright stems carry globes of starry flowers that measure up to 8cm (3”) across. Height: 90cm (36”). Spread: 10cm (4”).
  • Allium ampeloprasum – Globe-shaped heads of tightly packed, very pale mauve, almost white flowers on tall, strong stems that make a great vertical accent in cottage garden borders. Blooming in June and July, Allium ampeloprasum is also great for cut flower gardens and naturalising in meadows. The striking flowerheads are great for drying for an even longer-lasting arrangement! Height: 100cm (39"). Spread: 20cm (8").
  • Allium cowanii – Clusters of pure white, starry, long-lasting flowers that are perfect for cutting. Blooming in May and June, this ornamental onion looks lovely planted in drifts at the front of a border or makes a great addition to mixed containers. Bees, butterflies and other pollinators are attracted to the nectar-rich, sweetly scented flowers. Height: 40cm (16"). Spread: 10cm (4").
  • Allium moly – A ray of sunshine! This vigorous and cheerful little allium produces dense clusters of bright yellow, star-shaped flowers from late spring onwards – sure to brighten up any corner of the garden. Loved by butterflies, Allium moly is ideal for the front of borders, rockeries and containers. Height: 15cm (6"). Spread: 5cm (2").
  • Allium sphaerocephalon – An understated allium with unusual oval-shaped, maroon-purple flower heads perched atop tall, slender stems that are great for cutting. Best grown in dense clumps amongst other perennials, Allium sphaerocephalon associates particularly well with swaying grasses. Flowering in May and June, it is great choice for sunny borders and gravel gardens. Height: 90cm (36"). Spread: 8cm (3").
No garden should be without them! From statuesque varieties that create strong architecture amongst mound-forming perennials, to low growing gems for the front of borders and rockeries, every variety in this Bumper Allium Collection deserves a place in the garden. Alliums thrive in free-draining soils in full sun. If growing in clay soils, add grit when planting to improve drainage. Avoid planting in cold wet soils as the bulbs are prone to rot in these conditions. Plant allium bulbs at a depth of 10cm (4”) and a distance of 10cm (4”) apart. A slow release fertilizer can be added to poor soils at the time of planting to improve fertility. When growing alliums, plant them where the leaves of other plants will cover the base of their stems. This will hide the old foliage which dies back before flowering begins.

Live Plants

Organic Garden Catalogue strives to ensure that all its plants are delivered to you in the perfect condition for planting. While the majority of our nursery plants cope well with slight delays in intransit, sadly, the time it takes to deliver to certain locations in the UK means that we can't guarantee this for some of our smaller plug products and tender bedding and vegetable lines, which do not respond well to the extra journey time. So regretfully while we offer the majority of our live plant offering nationwide, we are unable to ship plugs, begging plants and tender vegetable plants to the following areas: HS, IV41-IV49, IV51, IV55-56, KW15-KW17, PA34, PA41-48, PA60-PA78, PA80, PH40-PH44, TR21-TR24, ZE1-ZE3.

Non Standard Deliveries

Unfortunately like many companies in our industry we are currently only able to supply orders to UK based customers, excluding those in Northern Ireland. We are committed to finding a way that we can resume or normal services again as soon as possible. Please accept our apologies for any inconvience caused.

Very Large items

If ordering any large items marked large lorry items  a surcharge of £5 per item will be applied. These items are also not available to areas and postcodes shown under non standard deliveries. We may need to contact you regarding delivery so please provide a contact number with all orders.

Prices include VAT where applicable.

We reserve the right to contact you and advise an additional charge where necessary and are happy to quote for carriage of specific products to more remote areas. Some items may not be available to all areas.

We reserve the right to revise any carriage charges in the event of carrier price increase or other unforeseen circumstances. We will always advise of the carriage charge before payment is taken.
